The Dexcom G5® Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System is the first device that lets you treat without pricking your finger.*
Use this app if you have the Dexcom G5 Mobile CGM System.
Medicare beneficiaries should not use this app. The beneficiary may NOT use their phone for display of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) data and still be eligible for reimbursement by Medicare for Therapeutic CGM.
The Dexcom G5® Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System provides real-time glucose readings for patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes every five minutes. With Dexcom G5 Mobile, dynamic glucose data can be accessed and shared safely and conveniently anywhere, anytime to your smart device.
* CGM-based treatment requires fingersticks for calibration; may result in hypoglycemia if calibration not performed or symptoms/expectations do not match CGM readings.
The Dexcom G5 Mobile CGM System provides personalized trend alerts right on your smart device and lets you see when your glucose levels are going too low, or too high, so you can better manage your diabetes. The Alert Schedule feature lets you schedule and customize a second set of alerts. For example, you can set the schedule to match your work hours and have different alert settings during the rest of the day. Custom alert sounds are available, including a Vibrate-Only option on the phone for glucose alerts other than the Urgent Low Alarm.
The Always Sound setting allows you to receive certain Dexcom CGM Alerts even if your phone sound is off, set to vibrate, or in Do Not Disturb mode. This will allow you to silence calls or texts but still receive CGM Alerts, including Low and High Glucose alert, Urgent Low Alarm, and Rise and Fall Rate alerts. Always Sound is on by default. A Home screen icon shows you if your Alerts will sound or not. For safety, three alerts cannot be silenced: Urgent Low Alarm, Transmitter Failure, and Sensor Failure.
In addition to the exceptional performance provided by the Dexcom Sensor, you’ll receive other valuable features:
• Intuitive and user-friendly interface
• Dexcom SHARE® remote monitoring is built into the G5 app, allowing you to share your glucose data with up to five followers, who can remotely monitor your glucose data and trends on their compatible smart device with the Dexcom Follow app. Share and Follow functions require an internet connection.
• Health App access so you can share retrospective glucose data with third party apps
• Today view widget, which allows you to view your glucose data on the lock screen of your smart device
Apple Watch
View your glucose information, trend graph, and alerts and alarms right from your wrist with the Dexcom G5 Mobile Apple Watch app:
• Use the digital crown to scroll through 1, 3, or 6 hours of glucose trend data
• Dexcom G5 Mobile complications allow you to view your glucose number and arrow from your watch face
• Add the Dexcom G5 Mobile app to the Dock and enable background refresh for best performance

Pros and cons of Dexcom G5 Mobile app for iPhone and iPad
Dexcom G5 Mobile app good for
This is a great app so far and I have found it works great for my use with iPhone.
Im glad to see I can quickly glance on the Today screen instead of having to open the app every time.
I also enjoy the Apple Health integration. I would like to see this area improve more. For those that enter Carbs, Insulin, Exercise, etc, I would like to see further sharing of this information with Apple Health.
Still a great app in my review!
love this dexcom it helps a lot but its also off of my blood sugar a lot and some times disconnects really easy so if you have a child who likes to play on their phone and has dexcom it will disconnect a lot
This is the best app ever for a type 1. I feel so great knowing my blood sugars at all times, and the alarms keep me safe at night/driving/at work etc. The convenience of having it on the phone really helps!!!
This app is now excellent. Many users have asked and begged for a native Apple Watch interface like the G4 had as well as a Notification Center widget. Both have been implemented and delivered to perfection. Thank you!
Original review prior to update: "All I want for Christmas is a native Apple Watch app.
I got the Apple Watch just for this option. I would like to see the current number with arrow indicator instead of an app symbol on the face....eliminate the need to open app to see current level/trend. Otherwise what a simply terrific app and makes my life easier dealing with hypoglycemic unawareness.
not much to add other than what lost have already said here.
23 year T1 diabetic and this has made my life so much easier!
Suggested improvements for iOS app:
•provide BG in notification alert
•allow scrolling and viewing of trends within portrait view
•allow more than 24hr trend view (48,72, 1 week?)
•not sure if its Health/apple app issue but allow real time Health app view instead of 3 hour delay.
Thank you your hard work here!
Some bad moments
Literally all it does is ping my phone constantly to tell me that the connection "Is lost", despite my transmitter being less than 3" from my iPhone. Never shows a blood sugar ever.
To get more than two stars from me they need to add a timer that shows how much time remains before the initial two test calibration is needed (a two hour countdown) and the time the next calibration is required
The iPhone 7 is around the corner and your app still doesnt support the resolution of the iPhone 6? Come on guys. Im also getting a lot of no data readings on the app despite my receiver getting them just fine.
Installed a new transmitter less than a week ago, and today the app has decided not to recognize it. I snapped the picture of the box, and it started to act like it was going to recognize it/sync and then changed its mind and stopped recognizing it again. Going to use the actual Dexcom reader thingy to try and troubleshoot but I am really not happy right now.
I love the system, but the app really needs support for the higher resolution screens on the iPhone 6/6 plus and iPhone 6s/6s plus. Its been almost two years since the iPhone 6 was released and almost all apps have been updated for the bigger screens. Right now the app looks blown up, fuzzy and old. It could also use some more features like 3-D touch support. I can think of so many ways that would be useful for. Over all, the app looks very old and it really needs to be updated to take advantage of new useful features.
App crashed during configuration. Ive been a DexCom user for 4 years and jumped at the chance to just use my cell phone and get the receiver out of my pocket. Extremely disappointed that the app is currently not working.
